Rev. Emmanuel Paul, a biblical scholar and arguably one of the greatest orators of our generation, is the gifted, anointed, and dynamic pastor of the historic Zion Pentecostal Church (ZPC) in Vellore, Tamil Nadu, India. A courageous, exciting, and visionary leader, Ps. Emmanuel Paul is a much sought after preacher, teacher, and featured national keynote speaker for various churches, leadership and development programs. He is one of the young pastors in the world to be ordained as Pastor at the very young age of 21. This might be the reason that, Ps. Emmanuel Paul is most passionate about today’s youth, and is often recognized for his sermons, which promote spiritual, social and intellectual growth amongst young adults.
Ps. Emmanuel Paul, a man who dedicated his whole life for Christ, is the first son of (late) Pr. Paul and Sis. Mary Paul. He lost his father and brother at his early age. As brought up by his loving mother Sis. Mary Paul, she took all the efforts to grow and lead his life towards Christ. Apart from spiritual care, as a good mother, she also gave him a good education till college.
During his college days at Voorhees, he used to distribute handbills about Jesus to other fellow students and visits other churches and distributed tracts. The year 1993 was a great tragedy in the history of Zion Pentecostal Church when Ps. Nalliah Aaron had left the earth and went to be with Lord. Then, Rev. Emmanuel Paul was called by the Lord to do His Ministry in Zion Pentecostal Church and to succeed Ps. Nalliah Aaron. He immediately obeyed to Lord and started his journey as a Young Pastor in Vellore District at the very young of 21 years.
Since then, he has been serving the Lord. The Lord blessed him with His powerful anointing and grace. And today, the Lord has blessed him with more than 5000 souls (believers) who used to attend the regular Sunday Services. Thousands of souls have got baptised by his hands.
He actively serves in multiple esteemed capacities, each reflecting his unwavering commitment to faith, education, and community development. From leading theological studies and educational trusts to managing international programs and local church initiatives, his roles showcase his dedication to empowering lives and spreading spiritual enlightenment.

A plethora of innovative worship services and ideas have been conceptualized and implemented by him. Youth Meeting is designed specifically for young adults, aged 12–30 meeting which is held on the second Saturday of every month. A host of innovative spiritual programs, services have been implemented under Ps. Emmanuel Paul such as: Bible Study according to Hebrew Root, Praying with the Pastor – 40 Days Fasting Prayer, just to name a few. He has been to various countries of Israel, Germany, France, Italy, Singapore, Egypt, Philippines and United States of America.
As a Chief Pastor, he has been able to direct the church in the ‘ways of God.’ Multitudes of people have been benefitting by his messages. Though his mother’s dedication in prayer life for the Church is one of major factor for the growth of this big Church in the city, the Lord has been the driving force behind the considerable growth of this wonderful ministry.
He is happily married to Deborah Lydia Emmanuel and blessed with two children named Esra Jonathan and Benjamin Joshua.
School Life
Rev. Emmanuel Paul started his school life in Chittoor District, Andhra Pradesh. He completed his first and second grade in a public school in Tamil Medium. During his age of 6, his parents Mr. & Mrs. Paul was called by Pr. Nalliah Aaron to be with him in Vellore during his sickness in April, 1979. So, he continued his 2nd and 3rd grade in Vidhyaniketan Matriculation School in Gandhi Nagar. And, he studied his 4th and 5th Grade in Vasanthapuram, Vellore.As Pr. Nalliah Aaron’s wish is to make him study in a big school, he made him to admit Ida Scudder School, a famous Christian educational institution, where he thought he would grow spiritually, along with, and so, he did his high school there from Grade VI to X. He continued his higher secondary in Holy Cross School, Vellore. Throughout his school days, he has excelled in his studies.
With Pr. Nalliah Aaron
Rev. Emmanuel Paul has been brought-up by teachings and preaching of Pr. Nalliah Aaron. When Rev. Emmanuel Paul was doing his Grade XII, he was started using in the Ministry by Pr. Nalliah Aaron. When he preach in Tamil, Rev. Emmanuel Paul used to translate in English.And, as Pr. Nalliah Aaron has understood that Rev. Emmanuel Paul will shine in doing His Ministry, he made him to conduct the Worship Service during the Sunday Service. This is the way that Pr. Nalliah Aaron had trained him in the ministry. He also had the wish of making him like his father as he shone in the ministry.
Ministry Calling by the Lord
As the Lord says in Isaiah 55:8, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD”, it was by His Will that Rev. Emmanuel Paul was called to do His Ministry after the fatality of Pr. Nalliah Aaron.
Rev. Emmanuel Paul has a deep interest in studying more. Actually, he wanted to do become a Doctor. After Pr. Nalliah Aaron left the world, the mischievous spirit acted upon the church and brought in many struggles and tribulations. One day, during his personal prayer, he heard the Lord’s word of “Do you love doing your studies or love doing my Ministry?” He immediately obeyed to His Word and learnt what Lord Will in his life. The very next day, he discontinued his college. At that time, he was doing second year of B.A in English.
As he dedicated himself after hearing the Lord’s Word, many were not interested in accepting him as a Pastor. And so, people scattered from Zion Pentecostal Church. Only a small group of people supported him entering the ministry and holding the chair of the Church.In January 1994, he was ordained as Pastor by Pr. M. S. Josph, President, IPC by efforts of Pr. Sathiyanathan Samuel. Rev. Emmanuel Paul was guided by the Holy Spirit. The Church started growing and people were flourishing and the Church couldn’t accommodate.
Pr. Paul
Rev. Emmanuel Paul’s father Pr. Paul was born to a Hindu family in a small village called Pallikuppam in Village District. He got saved by Christ at the age of 23 and got baptised by Pr. Nalliah Aaron in 1962. Throughout his life he had been a model to many as he was a polite, gentle, sacrificing, down to earth and faithful to Lord.He was called by the Lord and been ministered with Pr. Nalliah Aaron for more than 10 years till his last breathe. In 1969, he was sent by Pr. Nalliah Aaron as a Missionary to North India to do the Lord’s Ministry in Rajasthan. There he ministered for an year and called back to Vellore and assigned to look after Jolarpet branch church.
In 1972, as per God’s Will, Pr. Paul got married to Ms. Mary, a young and faithful woman and a believer of Zion Pentecostal Church since its inception. She is also the one who got baptised by Pr. Nalliah Aaron in 1961 before Pr. Paul.Rev. Emmanuel Paul’s mother Sis. Mary also born to a Hindu family in Karugambuttur village which is nearby Vellore. Sis. Mary Paul also called by the Lord to serve Him. So, Pr. Nalliah Aaron placed this lovely couple to do the ministry in Chittoor branch church. The spiritual life of the couple had been a blessing to many by showing the Love of God to the people over there.
They were blessed by two children. The first son was born on 27th May, 1974 and named Emmanuel Paul. The second son was born on and named Sam Stephen.During the days when Pr. Nalliah Aaron was sick, Pr. Paul, the father of Rev. Emmanuel Paul was called by Pr. Nalliah Aaron to look after the Church and to give Baptism to the souls in main Church and Branch Churches. As the time was not in favour, he become more ill and so, the couple Mr. & Mrs. Paul was called to be with him in Vellore and they relocated from Chittoor.
While the Church has been growing tremendously, people started floating in multiples of hundreds. Along with Sis. Mary Paul, people started praying for a big church to Worship Him. Days rolled-on. The prayers has been answered by the Lord and it began to existence, the First Largest Church in Vellore District, on 15th December, 2015. The godly person from Palayamkkottai, Tirunelveli Rev. I. Rathinam Paul, The Founder, Fort of Praise Ministries dedicated this New Church. Yes, it’s a gift of god for Rev. Emmanuel Paul for his burning passion of the gospel and for his Vision for Vellore. Through this, the second wish of Pr. Nalliah Aaron has become accomplished, after his day, by his successor.
